It’s officially summer, and boho chic is back with a bang. Defined by its flowing silhouettes, light fabrics, warm earthy tones and intricate, floral patterns, you may recognise this fashion aesthetic from its influence in the early 2000s, but it actually dates back further than that– think around 100 years earlier.

Boho emerged as a counterculture after the French Revolution, and the term ‘boho’ referred to out-of-style, old, or beat-up clothing that many impoverished artists and nomads wore at the time. Now, we know it as the free way of dressing that we can credit, for the most part, to supermodel Kate Moss for bringing into the mainstream fashion scene.
