Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has urged foreign partners involved in the development of Ibom Deep Seaport to come up with clear timelines for the execution of the project.
Ibom Deep Seaport was among the proposed seaports in Nigeria that President Bola Tinubu approved its certification and compliance procedures recently.
Recall that the governor, in a bid to ensure the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport which had suffered setbacks in successive administrations, joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to connect to the centre
Leading a high-level technical engagement and working session with Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group in Paris, France, on Friday, Gov Eno urged the partners to accelerate the project delivery timeline.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr Aniekan Umanah, said the governor further urged them to move the project from planning to execution.
The statement disclosed that the submitted Technical Feasibility Report prepared by Worley Parsons was reviewed and the critical pathways for investment, project implementation and long-term sustainability were reviewed
Parts of the statement read, “Governor Eno emphasized the need to accelerate project delivery and requested clear timelines, defined milestones, and actionable next steps to move the project from planning to execution.
“The Akwa Ibom State Government and prospective partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the Deep Sea Port initiative, a landmark Blue Economy project with the potential to position the State as a leading maritime, trade, and logistics hub in the Gulf of Guinea.”
