Known for their ruffled, lush blooms, peonies are the perfect flower to bring some colour to the home or garden. Peony season typically runs from late April through to early July, so bouquets have been popping up at your local supermarkets – making it easy to add elegant colour and delicate scent to your space.
While peonies are often associated with high-end florists and special occasions, supermarket bunches offer a more affordable way to enjoy these much-loved seasonal blooms. And I’ve spotted bunches for as little as £4.49.
Part of their appeal lies in their dramatic transformation. Many supermarket peonies are sold in bud, allowing you to watch the tightly packed petals gradually unfurl into large, fluffy blooms over the course of a few days.
Whether you’re looking to brighten up a dining table, add colour to a hallway or simply treat yourself to a seasonal bouquet, these are the best supermarket peonies to buy.

Aldi peonies

Whether arranged in a simple vase on a dining table or displayed as a statement centrepiece, a bunch creates maximum impact with minimal effort. As with all of Aldi’s products, you’ll only be able to buy these in-store, so I’d recommend acting fast.
M&S peonies

If you’d like some variation to your bouquet, there’s also a striking arrangement with peonies, antirrhinum, phlox, scabiosa, and laurel sprigs.
Waitrose flower garden peonies

The flowers should arrive still in their buds before opening up to reveal a pop of pink in your home. Customer reviews frequently praise how well the flowers last.

How to make peonies last longer at home
Peony season is short, so if you want to make your bouquet last longer, it’s important to take good care of them. To start, you’ll want to cut off any leaves and trim the stems at an angle. When considering where to position them, it’s recommended that you keep them out of direct sunlight and somewhere that has no draught. And finally, you’ll want to change the water completely every other day.
