Ex-Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George has said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, should tell President Bola Tinubu to stop insecurity within 90 days or resign, not the service chiefs.
George said it’s not right for Adeboye to tell the service chiefs to resign in 90 days if they can’t stop insecurity because the responsibility lies with Tinubu and not them.
Adeboye gave the charge in a sermon where he expressed sadness about the escalating insecurity in Nigeria.
However, in a statement on Friday, George faulted the cleric.
He said: “No one is saying that Pastor Adeboye should be in charge of the Commander-in-Chief. No. That is not even possible. But that advice should be given to the President, not the service chiefs. He is the person responsible for making sure that all Nigerians are protected and safe.
“It’s as if someone from outside the newsroom is telling the line editors that they need to make sure the newspaper has exclusive stories on the first page, or else they should leave their job within 90 days. That isn’t someone from outside doing it. That is the work of the Daily Editor.
“If there are no stories to sell, the newspaper won’t have anything to offer, and if the editor isn’t strong enough to make the line editors work properly, then it will be the editor who has to look for a job in the labor market. Simple.
“Tinubu appointed the service chiefs. If they aren’t performing, he can tell them they have to improve or he can let them go.”
