  • The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has stated that investigations into Lord Peter Mandelson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could take over a year to complete.
  • Both individuals were arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office due to their connections with convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
  • Andrew, who previously served as the UK’s special representative for international trade, had his titles removed by the King, and Lord Mandelson was removed from his post as UK ambassador to the the US.
  • They were subsequently released under investigation, with Andrew denying any wrongdoing in connection with his ties to Epstein.
  • DPP Stephen Parkinson attributed the potential delay to the complexity and international dimension of the cases, rather than any lack of urgency.
