Season five of Clarkson’s Farm witnessed the welcome comeback of a cherished figure to the Prime Video series.

In emotional moments, broadcaster and farmer Jeremy Clarkson caught up with builder Alan Townsend, who made his return to the programme in the fourth episode, reports Wales Online.

Alan was undertaking crucial construction work on the Farmer’s Dog Pub when Jeremy arrived to check on progress while his venue was closed for several days.

Jeremy and Alan discussed getting back to everyday life following their respective cardiac procedures.

The pair embraced as Jeremy said: “You’re back! Look at you, you’re like Jon bon Jovi,” referring to the amount of weight Alan had lost.

The builder responded: “I have lost a bit, yeah.

“That’s a lot of timber gone” Jeremy added and then went on to ask: “How is it? Painful?”

Alan admitted it was “very” painful and went on to say: “I don’t want to show you on camera but it’s a nasty cut.”

Explaining how he had landed up in hospital, Alan said about the arteries in his heart: “One had collapsed and curled itself up, and the others were about 85-90 percent blocked.

“Horrible. I had a bit of a problem with the lungs, I lost 36% of the lungs.”

Jeremy and Alan went on to discuss how they had been neighbours in hospital.

Both men were receiving treatment simultaneously after the former Top Gear star underwent tests on his heart following his medical emergency that required urgent surgery.

“You were next door, I knew you were there,” Alan said. Alongside these moments, Clarkson’s Farm also documented Jeremy’s own visit to A&E.

Season five launched yesterday (June 3) and depicted Jeremy Clarkson’s worrying health scare, which resulted in him undergoing emergency surgery, leaving the broadcaster with strict instructions from doctors to overhaul his diet and rest for six weeks.

Despite this, Jeremy found himself in hot water after failing to heed medical advice, which included travelling up to London to join a farmers’ rally protesting the government’s inheritance tax proposals affecting farming families.

Jeremy also fell unwell after attempting to fell a tree. In concerning scenes, he was forced to rest as the physical demands placed on his body so shortly after his operation began to take their toll.

Season five has been divided into three separate parts, which will be rolled out over the coming weeks.

The opening four episodes of season five were released all at once, with a further two instalments dropping on June 10.
