Clarkson’s Farm is back on our screens – and with that comes chockablock Cotswolds lanes and heightened crowds visiting the perennially popular Diddly Squat Farm.

The fifth series presents former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson and the crew with a fresh set of challenges, from government budgets to high-tech crop treatments.

After broadening his Clarkson’s Farm venture from Diddly Squat and the Hawkstone brewery into The Farmer’s Dog pub in Burford, footfall to the now-famous farm doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

Clarkson’s 1,000-acre farm sits just outside the village of Chadlington near Chipping Norton in the heart of the west Oxfordshire Cotswold Hills (5-12 Chipping Norton Road, Chipping Norton, OX7 3PE).

The market town also hosts a cobbled combination of antique shops, traditional pubs, and the Grade I-listed St Mary’s Church, making it ideal for a quintessential English staycation.

From central London, it’s around a two-hour drive to the area, or a one-hour and 10-minute Great Western Railway train from London Paddington to Charlbury.

The farm shop has been bursting with fans since it first opened in 2020 – expect snaking queues and a car park at max capacity by noon on most weekends.

Diddly Squat Farm Shop is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30am to 4.30pm, including bank holiday weekends, and four-legged friends are welcome on site, except inside the shop.

The ‘Big View Cafe’, selling Clarkson’s own Hawkstone beer and a seasonal brioche burger menu by Baste Food – including creative veggie options – has set up tables in the farm’s lambing barn for well-earned post-queue bites Wednesday through Sunday since 2021.

Due to unpredictable queues, it is not possible to book the Big View Cafe or a slot to visit the farm shop.

Clarkson opened country pub The Farmer’s Dog – a “village boozer” on five acres of countryside near Burford – in August 2024.

Clarkson bought the pub near his 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm and Hawkstone Lager brewery for less than £1m after a lengthy search seen on screen in season four of Clarkson’s Farm.

The pub is open Tuesday through Sunday with an “all-British menu”, The Grand Tour tent, and butcher and bottle shop, Hops & Chops.

The first four episodes of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ season five are streaming now on Prime Video.
