Troops of Operation Safe Peace have arrested two suspects and recovered ammunition during a stop-and-search operation in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The information was contained in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Zawan area, where troops of Sector 6 carried out routine checks on a commercial vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Patience John, 28, and Shamsu Ibrahim, 29.
During the search, soldiers reportedly discovered two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition hidden in a bag belonging to the suspects.
“A rubber item suspected to be linked to drug use was also found,” Makama added.
The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.
Security sources said investigations are ongoing to determine how the ammunition was obtained and whether the suspects are linked to any wider criminal activity.
Authorities say further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
