Donald Trump has called Benjamin Netanyahu “f****** crazy” in an expletive-laden phone call demanding that Israel call off strikes on Lebanon.
A US official reportedly told news outlet Axios that Trump said: ” You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a**. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”
Earlier on Monday, Trump claimed to have halted escalating hostilities in the region after Iran threatened to attack Israel if strikes on Lebanon continued.
Trump said that after “a very productive call” with Netanyahu and later with Hezbollah chiefs, “any [Israeli] troops that are on their way” to Beirut had been turned back.

France’s foreign minister said nothing could justify Israeli troops remaining deep inside Lebanon.
Jean-Noel Barrot told France TV this morning: “Nothing can justify the continuation of military operations and Israel’s prolonged occupation deep inside Lebanese territory.”
Israel and Hezbollah clashed overnight despite a US announcement that both sides had agreed to halt fighting.

Tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox demonstrated across Israel on Monday, blocking roads and trains and setting cars on fire to protest mandatory enlistment in Israel’s military.
Highways were closed and public transportation stopped by crowds in both Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv metro area.
Military service is compulsory for most Jewish men and women in Israel, but ultra-Orthodox parties have won exemptions for their followers to study in religious seminaries instead of participating in military service.
Many Israelis are tired of the longstanding system that has allowed ultra-Orthodox men to skip military service at a time when the military is stretched to its breaking point and many have served multiple tours of reserve duty.
The issue is tearing apart Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition, possibly moving elections up by several weeks this fall after the ultra-Orthodox parties withdrew their support for Netanyahu, AP reported.

US President Donald Trump has said he thinks he thinks an agreement with Iran to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz could happen “over the next week.”
“There was a little glitch today, but I turned that one around very quickly, as you probably noticed earlier,” Trump told ABC News on Monday.
He said the glitch was that the Iran was were about Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
“So, I spoke with Hezbollah, and I said no shooting, and I talked to Bibi [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu], and said, no shooting, and they both stopped shooting each other,” Trump said.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for an earlier explosion on a cargo ship in the Persian Gulf.
The IRGC said it had targeted the “US-owned” Panama-flagged MSC Sariska V container ship with a cruise missile.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported earlier that a cargo vessel in the Persian Gulf suffered a “large explosion” after being hit by an unknown projectile around 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr in Iraq.
Iranian media said the IRGC’s move followed an attack on an Iranian ship near Oman.
The UKMTO has not named the vessel which was hit.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has “told Trump” that “Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut” if Hezbollah does not cease attacks.
Netanyahu’s post on X came after Trump posted on Truth Social earlier this evening claiming he had enjoyed “a very productive call” with the Israeli leader in which Netanyahu had agreed not to strike the Lebanese capital.
The Israeli Prime Minister said: “Tonight, I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens—Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut.
“This stance of ours remains unchanged.
“In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.”

Donald Trump said he ‘couldn’t care less’ if peace talks with Iran are over. The US president has said he is not worried about higher oil prices, claiming that talk of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon means “people are willing to pay a little bit more”.

Donald Trump said he has not heard from the Iranians following media reports that they were suspending talks with Washington, but added that silence would be fine and he was willing to wait.
“It’s an appropriate thing to say, because they’re better negotiators than they are fighters,” the president told NBC News.
“It doesn’t mean we’re going to go and start dropping bombs all over there,” Trump added. “We’ll keep the blockade.
“I think we’ve been talking too much if you want to know the truth. I think going silent would be very good, and that could be for a long time.”
His comments come after reports in state media that Iranian negotiators were halting “talks and exchange of texts through intermediaries” with their US counterparts.

Iranian forces are moving to completely block the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports from Iranian news agencies.
Tasnim News said Iran would halt all traffic through the strait, after claiming that certain ships had previously been allowed to pass through.
Meanwhile, the Bab al Mandeb Strait which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden would also be targeted by “the resistance front” – this is thought to refer to Houthi militants in Yemen, which borders the maritime bottleneck, who are allied to Iran.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reports the Iranian negotiation team has stopped exchanging messages with the US via mediators in protest over Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
“Talks and exchange of texts through intermediaries,” had been halted, the news agency said. It said Israel’s actions in Lebanon had violated the peace deal between Iran and the US, adding: “This ceasefire has been violated on all fronts including Lebanon.”

Saudi Arabia has condemned Iran’s “repeated and malicious” attacks after the IRGC claimed a missile attack on a US base in Kuwait today.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry reiterated its “categorical rejection” of the strikes, adding that “such violations undermine international efforts that aim to restore security and stability in the region.”
The statement adds: “The Kingdom also affirms its solidarity with the brotherly state of Kuwait, its government and people, and renews its full support for all measures taken by Kuwait to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability and the well-being of its people.”

Kuwait’s foreign ministry has condemned the “heinous and repeated” attacks by Iran on the country this morning.
The ministry added that the strikes represented “a dangerous escalation and a direct assault on the security and stability of the State of Kuwait, as well as a flagrant violation of the rules of international law […] not to mention the grave threat they pose to the safety of civilians and vital facilities in the country”.
It said the attack undermined de-escalation efforts, adding it had the right to defend itself.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says it is vital a Lebanon ceasefire is guaranteed in any deal with the US to end the war.
It comes as Israel has continued to expand its attacks and invasion of the country despite a truce in mid-April.
Speaking at a news conference, Baghaei said: “We insist that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an essential condition for any deal aimed at ending the war.”

Iran says it has a right to carry out retaliatory strikes on regional “bases and assets” used to attack the country after Kuwait reported a series of missile and drone attacks.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a post on X: “States have an established legal obligation not to allow their territory or assets to be used for invading other countries.”
He also accused the EU of displaying “selective moral outrage” by releasing a “hypocritical and reckless” statement condemning Iran for “exercising its right to self-defence against US aggression launched from bases in neighbouring countries”.
Baghaei did not specify which EU statement he was referring to.

The United States bombed Iranian radar and drone control sites in Iran after Tehran shot down an American MQ-1 Predator drone this weekend, the US military said on Monday.
Iran acknowledged launching a retaliatory strike, while Kuwait said it was intercepting incoming drone and missile fire.
The duelling attacks reflect the fragility of a weeks-long ceasefire in the Iran war, which has seen repeated attacks even as American and Iranian officials try to negotiate a deal to extend it.
Iran has maintained its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy supplies as a fifth of all oil and natural gas traded once passed through the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf.
Fighting continues to escalate as Israel extends its occupation of Lebanon beyond the Litani River and as the militant group Hezbollah continues to launch drones into Israel.
The US military’s Central Command said it carried out the strikes in Iran on Saturday and Sunday around the city of Geruk and on Qeshm Island.
“The measured and deliberate strikes occurred… in response to aggressive Iranian actions that included the shootdown of a US MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters,” Central Command said.
“US fighter aircraft swiftly responded by eliminating Iranian air defences, a ground control station and two one-way attack drones that posed clear threats to ships transiting regional waters.”
The Predator has been phased out of service by the US Air Force, which now flies the MQ-9 Reaper, although the US Army still flies the Predator. The US military said no American troops were hurt in the attacks.

The Kuwaiti air defences are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks, a statement by Kuwait Army’s General Staff HQ has said.
A spokesperson for the Kuwaiti defence force said: “The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they result from the air defence systems intercepting the hostile attacks.”
The statement adds that residents and visitors are “requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities” until advised otherwise.

A cache of leaked documents obtained by hacker group Prana suggest that China has had a hand in navigating US sanctions against Iran.
As per the leaked files, initially reported on by the Iran International, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been able to acquire chemicals used in the production of ballistic missiles thanks to transactions facilitated via a network of companies designed to navigate US sanctions.
Firms in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are understood to also have been involved in the transactional chain of events to allow the procurement of bomb making materials.
The documents also link the massive April 26 explosion the Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas to a shipment of sodium perchlorate, a chemical used in solid missile fuel production.
The April explosion along the north shores of the Strait of Hormuz, as well sanctions already in place, have made it difficult to find vessels willing to transport such cargo to Iran, the Iran International reports.

US president Donald Trump has taken to his preferred social media platform, Truth Social, to launch a blistering attack on news netwrok CNN, criticising the network’s coverage of the emerging peace deal between America and Iran.
As per Trump’s post: “The Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iranian nuclear deal doesn’t talk about nuclear, when in fact it clearly states that Iran will not have nuclear weapons.”
He added: “CNN, and many others in the Fake News Media, are a disaster with low ratings.”

Iranian preisdent Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly stood down from his position within the Iran government, following months of tensions between the government and the Islamic Republic’s military-security institutions.
This latest update comes after reports by the Iran International that hardline factions within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had eroded away at many presidential powers, and had gradually effected a coup within key parts of the government.
According to informed sources, the Iran International clims, the situation has left Pezeshkian’s administration engaged in a total political and executive deadlock, preventing diplomatic negotiations from moving forward and the completion and implementation of any desired changes to the cabinet structure, rendering his position as head of the executive branch of government untenable.
As per Fox News, US president Donald Trump has repeatedly pointed to divisions inside Iran’s leadership, pointing out previously that powers at the top of the Iranian regime are “seriously fractured.”
