Trump says Iran talks are continuing ‘at a rapid pace’ after declaring ‘I couldn’t care less’

President Donald Trump has claimed talks with Iran are continuing at a rapid pace, directly contradicting a report that Tehran had suspended indirect negotiations with the United States.
Iranian state news agency Tasnim had earlier reported that Tehran was halting indirect negotiations with the U.S. in response to Israel’s order for troops to advance deeper into Lebanon.
In telephone interviews conducted after the report of suspension, Trump stated that he had not been informed by Iran that they were suspending talks with Washington. “I don’t care if they’re over, honestly … I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less,” Trump said in one interview.
He later claimed “all shooting will stop” between Israel and Hezbollah following a call with Benjamin Netanyahu, writing on Truth Social, “There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back.”
Trump added, “Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”
