  • Kevin Keegan, the former Newcastle player and manager, has revealed he is responding well to a new treatment for stage-four cancer.
  • The 74-year-old was diagnosed after being admitted to hospital in January with “ongoing abdominal symptoms”.
  • Keegan, who also captained and managed England, expressed his desire to return to St James’ Park next season for a proper farewell, having not had the chance when he last left the club.
  • He made over 300 appearances for Liverpool and won the Ballon d’Or twice with Hamburg during his playing career.
  • Newcastle United sent a message of heartfelt support to Keegan and his family following his diagnosis, acknowledging his cherished place in the club’s history.
