Kambo is an ancient Amazonian healing practice using dried skin secretions from the giant leaf frog, administered by self-appointed shamans, and is not scientifically supported.
The British Complementary Medicine Association (BCMA) and the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) have issued warnings, advising people to avoid such rituals and consult qualified healthcare professionals.
Despite being legally available in the UK, kambo is not a licensed medicine and its use is unregulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
The frog poison has been linked to serious health issues, including seizures, liver failure, and heart attacks, leading to its ban in Australia following several deaths.
