Since meeting for the first time at last year’s BAFTAs, it seems The Traitors hosts Alan Cumming and Claudia Winkleman created a solid friendship. So much so, while filming at the same Scottish castle ahead of each other’s upcoming series, the Hollywood actor has revealed that he enjoys leaving notes around the castle for Claudia to find.
Their unique way of communicating came on the back of Alan, 61, having to film Traitors US in the same location.
And although their filming schedules do not overlap one another, he revealed: “We do leave little notes for each other to say hello.”

The film and TV star has come a long way since leaving Scotland to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. However despite achieving a number of accolades under his belt, the star has returned to Scotland after making the decision to take over the running of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in the Highlands.
He is set to present his first season as Artistic Director and he will also play Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, directed by the acclaimed Maria Friedman.
As the host of the US version of the show, there is very little doubt that Alan is pampered by production. So it comes as no surprise that he would never enter Traitors as a contestant.
In his interview with Hello! magazine, he continued: “I mean, you’d think I might have some extra special skills [as a contestant] because of my access to it, but I don’t know if I would.
“It gets insane at certain times. Also, it would be really weird if I wasn’t able to go to my room in the castle… and not lie in my big bed.”
Although he has been living in America for some time, Alan splits his time between both homes evenly. He added to the publication: “I’m not like the royal family! I’m here more now than I am in New York. I live between the Highlands of Scotland and the East Village in Manhattan and I think it’s a really great combo.
“Especially now, it’s nice to be outside America. Even though I live in New York, and New York is not really America, it’s hard to think [about] what is happening there. I feel very lucky to have another passport and another life and another home.”
Alan happily lives between the two countries with his husband Grant Shaffer who he met in 2005. In 2012, the couple tied the knot in New York City.

Speaking openly about his sexuality, according to reports he said: “I think my sexuality and most people’s sexuality is grey. I am married to a man. I have a healthy sexual appetite and a healthy imagination.
“I also have an attraction to women. I’ve never lost it, actually. I’ve always been attracted to both sexes, and whether I act on it or not is not anyone’s business.”
