A man was allegedly sexually assaulted and followed in a supermarket car park.
The victim was approached, inappropriately touched and pursued by another man, Northamptonshire Police said. He was then helped by a group of teenagers before leaving the car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton, at around 9pm.
Police have made an arrest following the incident and are now appealing for the group of teens who came to the victim’s aid to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in the Morrisons car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton. “The incident happened between 8.50pm and 9pm on Wednesday, May 27, when a man was approached, inappropriately touched, and followed before seeking help and leaving the area.
“A 31-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

“Officers are particularly keen to speak to the group of teenagers who assisted the victim, as they may have important information which could help with the investigation.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is also urged to come forward. “Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Information can also be submitted online.
