Canadian man, 60, admits aiding suicide after selling lethal substances across the world

Kenneth Law, a 60-year-old Canadian national, has admitted to 14 counts of aiding suicide in an Ontario court, after selling lethal substances online to individuals across the world, including the UK.
Authorities confirmed that 79 UK victims, whose deaths were a direct result of purchasing Law’s products, will be included in the wider Canadian case, despite no separate criminal proceedings taking place in the UK.
The decision not to prosecute Law in the UK was made due to the potential for him to challenge extradition after being convicted of similar offences in Canada, with prosecutors describing him as a “serial offender” who exploited vulnerable people for financial gain.
Law sold approximately 1,200 packages to 40 countries from Canada-based websites, with 286 individuals in the UK receiving his products, leading to 112 deaths, though 79 are specifically linked to the Canadian charges.
Victims’ families have expressed anger and criticism over the lack of a UK prosecution, with some calling for a statutory public inquiry into how these deaths were allowed to happen in Britain.
