DHS chief Markwayne Mullin floats removing customs and immigration from major airports
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin is accused by unnamed agency insiders, according to The Daily Mail, of using a controversial luxury jet, being disengaged from his duties and attempting to secure a job for his wife within the department.
Insiders claim Mullin regularly uses a $70 million Gulfstream G700 to fly home to Oklahoma, often leaving on Thursdays and not returning until Mondays, leading to frustration among staff.
The luxury jet in question was a factor in the ouster of Mullin’s predecessor, Kristi Noem, who was removed by President Donald Trump.
DHS staffers reportedly feel Mullin’s alleged hands-off approach has left components like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without clear direction.
A DHS spokesperson vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “complete garbage” and asserting that Mullin is fully engaged, works constantly and adheres to all ethical requirements.
