Every year, Love Island fans yearn for the show to feature an iconic and feisty diva, one that can match the lofty heights of Maura Higgins and Olivia Attwood – this year, we might get our wish. New contestant Robyn Langton has said she thinks she’s quite similar to those two, because she is just as “wild”.

Robyn is a blonde from Liverpool and works as a quantity surveyor and a DJ. At just 21, she is one of the youngest in this year’s OG line up, meaning she was only 13 and 15 when Olivia and Maura were on the show.

Speaking to press ahead of the Love Island launch on 1 June, Robyn was asked which Islanders she takes inspiration from. Without hesitation, she said: “I loved Maura Higgins and Olivia Attwood. I think I have a similar personality to them. I can be quite wild.”

She clarifies: “I wouldn’t say I bring a lot of drama but I’m quite headstrong, and, like Olivia and Maura, I like to have fun. I think everyday in my life is a show at this point. I like to live in Robyn’s world and everyone at home says the world does not revolve around me… but it does.”

Maura and Olivia both became fan favourites thanks to their witty one liners and no-nonsense attitudes. While Maura coined the term “fanny flutters” – the feeling you get when you really fancy a bloke – Olivia was the first to bring “d***sand” – when you can’t think straight because you horny – to the public’s attention. Maura also tore her partner Tom Walker a new one after he made a disrespectful comment and Olivia brutally shut down an argument with Chris Hughes when he told her to sit back down and she responded by calmly pointing out: “I’m sat.”

Similarly, Robyn has no time for long drawn out drama. She said there will be no competition over a boy because “if another girl can steal my man, then he wasn’t mine anyway”.

“I’ll move very quickly onto the next,” she promised. “I am a very very confident person so I’m not worrying about competition. I want someone 100% into me so if there is competition and another girl can take him, she can have him.”

And what does Robyn want in a man? “Tall, fair, muscles, nice teeth, pretty boy. I’m more into personality though. They’ve got to make me laugh, be charming, and have good manners.” Type wise, she’s looking for someone like Jacques O’Neill and Luca Bish from series eight, or series seven winner Liam Reardon.

But there is a certain kind of boy she doesn’t have time for. As well as mullet wearer with bad breath, she does not want a mummy’s boy: “My biggest red flag is a mummy’s boy. I’m not here to be anyone’s mum. If a red flag does show up, I won’t waste my time on that. I’ll shut it off quite early.”

Robyn insisted that she is quite mature for her age and knows exactly what she wants. That largely comes from having worked hard to be a DJ since she was 16. She shared that she adores her job, but it has made her dating life “brief” as she has been focused on her career.

Even if Love Island lead to opportunities to transition into being an influencer, she would still want to be a DJ, though, as, just like her, the crowds can be “wild”. “Obviously, being from Liverpool, the people are crazy,” she explains. “So the crowds can get quite wild.”

Rather than opportunities, Robyn is “100%” going into the villa for love. “I am going in there for myself. If I have to step on some toes to get what I want, I will.”

Love Island starts on Monday 1st June on ITV2 and ITVX
