Tourette’s champion John Davidson’s most outrageous tics have been turned into a range of products to help other sufferers.
Jaw-dropping phrases like “Sp*nk for Milk” and “Yer Dugs Got T*ts” featured in the award-winning movie based on John’s lifelong battle with the neurological condition, I Swear, released on Netflix last year.
Now a Scots craft shop has designed a range featuring both censored and uncensored versions of the slogans.
Campaigner John, 54, from Glashiels, described the range, sold by Borders Tartan & Tweed, as “absolutely fantastic” and said it was ok to laugh at funny tics.
He said in a clip for the company: “We knew as soon as this ‘sp*nk for milk’ quote was said in the film, we kind of knew this is what would happen. This is one of the major punchlines in the film.

“I think it’s fantastic and should be supported because it’s the kind of thing that we shout and, yeah, it’s alright to laugh sometimes. Sometimes they’re funny, the tics, sometimes they’re not. So when there are funny tics, laugh, you know? I think the success of the movie has been paramount and we’ve needed it for a long time.”
John backed the launch of the products, which will see half of all proceeds go to the Tourette Scotland charity, helping other living with the syndrome.
Jointly posting on Instagram, Tartan Coo Creations wrote: “Richard, co-founder of Borders Tartan & Tweed is a proud Galashiels man and following the success and impact of ‘I Swear’ – a biographical film depicting the life of fellow Galashiels native and lifelong Tourette’s advocate, John Davidson MBE – we were inspired to develop a product range featuring some of the film’s more memorable phrases.
“We were honoured meet up with John and to receive his approval of the collection, and we are equally proud to share that 50% of all profits from this range will be donated to Tourette Scotland to help support individuals living with Tourette’s syndrome and raise awareness of the condition.
“By ordering from this collection, you are not only purchasing a unique product, you are also helping make a real difference.”

John received a torrent of support last month after the BBC bungled an apology over the corporation’s Bafta fiasco.
John was angered at a belated and impersonal “third party” apology to him after his condition led to an outburst at the Bafta Film Awards in February.
He had been assured that steps would have been taken to protect him but instead suffered embarrassment as a massive TV audience heard him involuntarily shout the “N-word” while Sinners stars Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo, presented an award.
His view was met with wall to wall support.

John spoke out after a BBC internal probe found it breached editorial standards when it allowed his outburst to be heard in the TV and BBC Player coverage – even with a two hour broadcast delay.
