Arrests made over international burglary ring that targeted NFL and NBA stars
‘It’s frustrating’ – Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes on home burglary
Three Chilean men, Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, Bastian Jimenez Freraut, and Pablo Zuniga Cartes, have been arrested in Argentina in connection with an international burglary ring.
The ring allegedly targeted the homes of high-profile professional athletes in the U.S., including NFL and NBA players, while they were away for games or team obligations.
Victims reportedly include Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Milwaukee Bucks player Bobby Portis, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić, and Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell.
The group is accused of stealing more than $2 million worth of valuables, including cash, luxury jewellery, watches, and sentimental items like Travis Kelce’s first Super Bowl jersey.
The arrests are linked to a 2025 federal complaint charging seven defendants, with one, Alexander Esteban Huaiquil-Chavez, already having pleaded guilty.
