The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive steps to address the rising wave of insecurity and attacks on Christians in the country.
The announcement made in a video shared via TikTok on sunday by #David Obafemi came after the completion of a three-day nationwide fasting and prayer programme held from May 22 to 24, 2026, which coincided with Global Pentecost Day.
Leaders of the PFN Lagos chapter led a rally in the city where participants marched and held placards with messages such as “Save Nigeria from Terror” and “Peace and Security Now.”
In a video from the event, a PFN official identified as Yemi Davies addressed the gathering on behalf of the national president, Bishop Francis Oke, stressing that after intense prayers, it was time for concrete government intervention.
“The level of banditry, kidnapping, violence insecurity and savage killing all across the Nigerian landscape has risen to an intolerable height,” he stated during the rally, according to footage from the event.
PUNCHONLINE reports that the PFN’s call comes amid fresh outrage over the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State on May 15, 2026, where gunmen attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, abducting over 40 pupils and several teachers.
The Christian body urged the administration of President Bola Tinubu to prioritise the protection of lives and property, describing several parts of the country as killing fields due to banditry, kidnappings, and other forms of violence.
Public reactions on social media reflected mixed sentiments. One user, #nedudyke, asked, “Abeg, where is PastorEAAdeboye in this video? Or is he no longer part of PFN?”
Another, #abdulazeezbkm31, responded, “We also pray for Nigeria,” echoing the spiritual dimension of the exercise.
The PFN had in the past consistently raised concerns about insecurity and called for both divine intervention and practical governance solutions.
