Primate Elijah Ayodele has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, saying the government lacks the courage to tackle insecurity head-on.
In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric claimed that both the federal government and security agencies know the individuals and groups responsible for insecurity across the country but have failed to take decisive action against them.
Ayodele alleged that the insecurity problem in Nigeria began because some politicians once used armed groups for political purposes but later lost control of them.
According to him, “The Nigerian government isn’t taking the issue of security seriously because it’s looking like a curse to the Nigerian government.”
He further stated that the “secret of insecurity is known to the government and all service chiefs, but they are scared.”
The cleric also alleged that some traditional rulers are connected to insecurity in parts of the country, questioning why authorities have not taken action against those allegedly involved.
Ayodele argued that insecurity has now become a business in Nigeria and warned that the crisis may persist unless the government is prepared to take tough and decisive steps.
