Jacob Elordi has described the shocking demise of his controversial Euphoria character, Nate Jacobs, as a “cool way to go” but admitted it was “bittersweet” to depart the acclaimed HBO series.
The Australian actor, who has portrayed the character since its inception, stated that the role had been a “huge part” of his life.
Nate Jacobs met a gruesome end in the latest episode, finding himself buried alive in a coffin by a gangster to whom he owed a substantial million-dollar sum.
A pipe allowed him to breathe, granting his wife Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, a 72-hour ultimatum to secure the money.
However, a venomous rattlesnake slithered down the pipe and fatally bit him.
Speaking in an HBO video going behind the scenes of the episodes, Elordi said: “It was a cool way to go, Nate is somebody who’s made so many mistakes and so many dark choices, it’s cool to see it all come to what it’s come to.”
He added: “I had to go into this coffin, my shoulders were touching the side, and I couldn’t move my arms, and then they would drill the lid on and it would get dark.
“It was really nice actually, it was quite peaceful.”
Sam Levinson, the creator of the show, said he gave “an enormous credit” to Elordi, because Levinson wanted to shoot the scene with a real snake.
Elordi added: “The snakes were rattling, which was really alarming when you’re locked in a box.
“They had a boa constrictor that they put a fake rattler on the end of, and Sam was like “I’m gonna drop a snake on you.”
“And that was it. It’s a bittersweet thing. This show is a massive part of not just my career, but my life. It’s been amazing, and I’m so proud being a part of this.”

The series made superstars out of Elordi and Sweeney, as well as Zendaya, and all three returned for the third series, which followed a four-year hiatus and is set five years after the events of the second season.
Season three has returned after a four-year hiatus, but early critical reviews suggest the new episodes have largely failed to impress, as ritics widely claim the show has lost its “edge” and descended into “torture porn”, with many finding it humourless and emotionally hollow despite its visual style.
