A man has been shot dead following a security breach at an airport in Jamaica.
The US resident was fatally shot by police this morning at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
The man was reportedly seen close to the fuel storage area at the airport, and police were summoned. He then allegedly attacked the police and was shot.
He was later pronounced dead at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, The Gleaner reports. It remains unclear whether the American was a tourist.
Sangster International Airport, also known as Montego Bay International Airport or simply Montego Bay Airport, is located three miles east of Montego Bay.

The airport is capable of handling nine million passengers per year and is the most popular airport for tourists visiting the north coast of Jamaica.
The airport is named after former Jamaican Prime Minister Sir Donald Sangster.
