Manchester City will rename the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium the “Pep Guardiola Stand” and erect a statue in his honour, following his departure this summer after a decade as manager.
Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak personally informed Guardiola of the club’s decision to recognise his role in their most successful period.
Sheikh Mansour highlighted Guardiola’s unprecedented success, which includes winning 20 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first Champions League.
The 55-year-old manager is stepping down after becoming the most successful in City’s history, having led the team for 10 years.
The newly expanded North Stand, which adds over 7,000 seats, will be fully open for the first time during Guardiola’s final match in charge against Aston Villa on Sunday.
