Drivers are facing long delays on the M6 this morning after traffic was stopped following a multi-vehicle crash.

There is currently ongoing congestion on the M6 southbound between junctions 19 at Knutsford and 18 at Middlewich, in Cheshire.

Traffic was briefly held between the two junctions following the incident, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix, with one lane still closed and “long delays” ongoing.

“Long delays and one lane closed due to accident on M6 Southbound from J19 A556 (Knutsford) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel),” an Inrix statement reads. “Lane one remains closed after being held for around 10 minutes.”

Recovery teams are working at the scene of the collision this morning.
