A gang of electric bike riders wearing balaclavas rampaged through Edinburgh in shocking new footage. The clip from Monday evening shows the gang riding head-on into traffic and allegedly damaging a passing car.

The group, believed to include around six youths, were spotted riding along Middle Meadow Walk at around 7.30pm on May 18. Concerned locals watched on as the riders travelled from Argyle Place towards Melville Drive before continuing through the city’s Southside, Edinburgh Live reports.

A driver who witnessed the incident claimed the gang crossed through traffic against the lights and deliberately sprayed his vehicle with dirt and rocks kicked up by spinning tyres. The driver and his wife later followed the group while contacting police.

The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “My wife and I were driving eastbound along Melville Drive when we spotted half a dozen black-clad youths riding motorbikes south on Middle Meadow Walk. They emerged at the bottom of Argyle Place and proceeded across Melville against the signal, right into traffic.

“I honked at them repeatedly as I made my right turn onto Argyle, and my wife began taking photos and video. We were then heavily sprayed by dirt and rocks that two of them spun up under their rear tyres and projected onto the road.”

The couple allege the same riders later sprayed their car for a second time as the group headed towards Sciennes Road, where they were seen dragging a rubbish bin before dumping it in the street. The gang then travelled through Grange Road and Minto Street before they were last spotted near Cameron Toll.

The driver said the incident left his vehicle with paint chips, scratches and minor damage to a passenger window. He added: “We can’t let bullies and hooligans persist.”
