Coronation Street fans think they have worked out who killed Theo Silverton – but it’s none of the suspects.
The scaffolder, who was played by former Tracy Beaker star James Cartwright, was killed off at the end of the soap’s much-hyped Murder Week after almost a year of abusing partner Todd Grimshaw, and along with Todd himself, George Shuttleworth, Gary Windass, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd and Danielle Silverton were named as official suspects.
Following a controversial flashforward that all led to a Murder Week, in which the same day was repeated over and over again, the abusive Theo Silverton was one of five potential villains set to be killed off and, in the end, he did not make it out alive, having been found dead at the bottom of some scaffolding.
As Weatherfield’s busiest policewoman, DS Lisa Swain has been on the case ever since and has spent her days interrogating her friends and neighbours.

On Tuesday night, it was the turn of Todd’s daughter Summer (Harriet Bibby), who was already furious with Theo before his death because she found out he was responsible for the death of her other dad Billy in the soap’s crossover with Emmerdale. Lisa was very interested in the matter of a brooch, which belonged to Summer and was found on the floor of Theo’s flat.
She pleaded her innocence and had no idea how it had got there, and she went home. Later on, George Shuttleworth, who has grown suspicious of Summer after reading her diary in which she lambasted Theo continuously, called round to speak to her.
When Summer insisted to George that she had not seen Theo that night, he asked her to think again.
The world’s longest-running TV soap has been through numerous radical format changes in recent years and, in keeping with the programme’s insistence on non-linear storytelling, a flashback revealed that Summer had indeed seen Theo on the night he died.
George said: “I saw you. On the street,” and a sepia-toned Summer was seen marching away from Theo’s flat on the night of the murder as George watched on. Back in the present day, George warned her: “The truth will come out.”

But fans instantly took to social media to discuss that, while the blame is currently being shone on Summer, it is more than possible that the murderer could be someone else entirely. Little is known about Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) at the moment, but given that the long-lost sister of Shona Platt, who had never been mentioned before her sudden appearance earlier this year, has a reputation for stealing things, some viewers think it could be her.
One fan wrote on Reddit: “I think it’s Jodie. Pretty shocked that people aren’t talking about her actually. With Todd set on leaving on holiday she probably snuck into his house hoping to sleep overnight, she probably stole Summers broch too and maybe got her hands on Theo’s tracker watch and bumped into him at the house.”
Another agreed as they wrote: “I’ve been wondering about Jodie lately,” whilst a third said: “I don’t know but they’re milking it as much as they can, with a different suspect in the frame every few episodes. Still a good few weeks to go until the reveal.”
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
