Francis Ngannou secured a first-round knockout victory over Philipe Lins at an MMA event streamed live on Netflix on Saturday, which was organised by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
Following his win, Ngannou seemingly gave his $100,000 performance bonus to his opponent, Philipe Lins, after showing mercy by not delivering a follow-up strike to the downed fighter.
At the post-fight press conference, Ngannou expressed that Lins was underestimated and tough, suggesting that Lins was deserving of the “performance of the night” bonus.
Philipe Lins, who reportedly earned $100,000 for the fight, acknowledged Ngannou’s gesture on Instagram, indicating that his pay for the event might have been doubled.
This act of generosity by Ngannou, who reportedly earned $1.5 million for the fight, occurs after his departure from the UFC in early 2023 due to a significant pay dispute.
