New Order star may never tour again due to serious health condition

  • New Order drummer Stephen Morris, 68, has revealed that his future with the band is uncertain as he is currently dealing with a serious health condition.
  • The illness prevents Morris from leaving the country for any lengthy period, making it unlikely that he will be able to attend New Order and Joy Division’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles this November.
  • Morris and his wife, New Order guitarist Gillian Gilbert, had already announced in June that they were stepping back from playing live with the band for the foreseeable future.
  • Recounting a recent two-day trip to an Ian Curtis exhibition in New York that ended in disaster, Morris expressed doubt about his health improving or being able to return to touring.
  • Joy Division and New Order are scheduled to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 14 November at the Peacock Theatre alongside acts including Oasis, Iron Maiden, and Sade.
