Los Angeles Dodgers player Miguel Rojas has retirement on his mind as the playoff season quickly approaches.

“A lot of the players in this game are getting younger and younger, and obviously, you wanna keep up with that and kind of stay in the best shape as possible to help the team win,” Miguel, 37, exclusively shared with Us while celebrating his role as an investor in CasAzar Tequila. “But at the end of the day, it’s not just about performance. It’s not just about what you do on the field. It’s what your life is outside of the field.”

While Miguel plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers, his wife, Mariana Rojas, and their two children, Aaron and Skye, call Miami, Florida, home.

During jam-packed baseball seasons, Miguel admitted it’s hard to be present for every major family milestone.

“I’m so grateful and so lucky to have the ability to play this game for a long time and have the opportunity to be on this team and travel the world with them,” the Venezuelan native shared with Us. “But obviously, the family and the time with the kids and everything that they experience on their own is always something that you can’t really go back and turn the clock back.”

When looking towards the future, Miguel pictures a reality where he can be present when his son has questions about the game of baseball or when his daughter needs help with schoolwork.

“I’m so far away, and sometimes my son doesn’t like to call me on the phone to tell me he had a good game or a bad game,” he said. “I would like to be there a little bit more to be an outlet for them to kind of share my experience. I feel like I want to be there for them as well.”

For now, Miguel is focused on being the best teammate for the Dodgers as they prepare for another post-game season.

If the infielder had his way, he’d be able to earn one more World Series championship ring before he officially retires from the game he loves so much.

“If you ask me today if I’m ready to go and I’m ready to retire, I’m saying no because I feel like I can still produce, and I can still play, and I can still go there every single day and give my team the best opportunity to win,” he said. “And obviously, if we win this year, it’s going to be really hard for me to go home.”

In between hitting home runs, raising a family and traveling the country, Miguel tries his best to celebrate all of the victories in life. As an investor in CasAzar Tequila, the athlete believes he’s found a bottle that is more than tequila — it’s a porcelain work of art.

“It’s not just a great accessory for the bar, but it’s a great product,” he said. “I invite everybody to give it a try and let me know what you guys think. You guys can reach me on social media.”

If and when that official retirement announcement comes, Miguel hopes his fans will raise a glass to a player who tried his best to be the best teammate.

“I want my legacy to be someone who did everything that the team needed to win,” Miguel explained to Us. “A guy who was always ready to receive an opportunity and to produce when it mattered the most.”
