Family of Miami plane crash victim sues Amazon after tragic death

New footage captures moment pilot leaps from crashed Amazon cargo plane
  • Five plane cleaners were killed and two others critically injured when an Amazon cargo aircraft, operated by 21 Air, collided with their Econoline van at Miami International Airport as they completed an eight-hour shift.
  • The victims who lost their lives in the crash have been named as Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, Rolando Aleman Leon, Julio C. Pineda, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo.
  • An attorney representing Naranjo’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Amazon, 21 Air, and the aircraft’s pilots after investigators indicated the jet appeared to attempt a go-around before running out of runway.
  • Naranjo’s wife learnt of the accident after reading a news story online. She had texted Naranjo frantically after he failed to arrive home on time, but the texts went unread.
  • Industry union representatives and aviation experts highlighted the gruelling nature of the job, pointing out that airport cleaners face intense time pressure, hazardous chemicals, and long hours for near minimum wage.
