Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed that he once accepted money to pretend to have a physical disability during a staged church miracle service.
Solade made the disclosure in an interview with Feel Right News TV, monitored by PUNCH Online on Wednesday, recalling an incident that happened when he was still a student and had yet to establish himself as a popular actor.
According to the veteran actor, he was recruited to act as a cripple during the service and was paid for his participation.
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple, they paid, I used the money to drink, then I was a student,” Solade said.
The actor said the experience occurred during his early years, before he became a recognised figure in Nollywood.
Solade, however, declined to disclose the identities of the people involved, explaining that they are still alive.
“The people involved are still alive; I just don’t want to mention names,” he said.
His revelation has drawn attention to the issue of staged miracles and the alleged use of people to create the appearance of supernatural healings during religious services.
Solade’s account provides a personal recollection of an incident he said he was involved in as a young student, long before his acting career brought him widespread recognition.
