Atiku condemns attack on Peter Obi in Benue

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the violent attack on the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, in Benue State.

DAILY POST reports that suspected thugs on Tuesday allegedly blocked Obi from entering the state for a humanitarian outreach in Yelwata.

The Benue State Government, however, denied sponsoring the suspected political thugs, saying it was unaware of Obi’s visit to the state.

In a statement signed by Kenneth Okonkwo, his official spokesperson, Atiku said he “strongly condemns the violent attack on Peter Obi,” describing the incident as unacceptable.

He called on the relevant authorities to urgently “investigate the incident, hold those responsible accountable and ensure the safety and freedom of political leaders to carry out their duties without intimidation.”
