Daniel, Amosun, others celebrate Tejuoso’s wife at 75

Former Ogun State Governors, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, as well as the Agoro of Egbaland, High Chief Dapo Adewolu, have praised Olori Omolara Tejuoso for her humility, generosity and love for people as she marked her 75th birthday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The celebration, held on Monday, attracted family members, old schoolmates, friends, traditional rulers and other dignitaries who gathered to honour the celebrant and celebrate her contributions to those around her.
The event began with a Christian thanksgiving service where the Primate and Bishop of the African Church, Most Rev. A.A. Odufuwa, described Tejuoso’s attainment of 75 as a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Preaching from Psalm 90:10, Odufuwa said the preservation of Tejuoso, her husband and family over the years was by divine grace.
He said, “To reach 75 is a testimony. For Daddy and Mummy to be preserved today is not by their doing. It is the Lord’s doing that they are not consumed.”
The cleric urged the celebrant to regard the milestone as the beginning of another phase of purpose, stressing that age could not terminate destiny.
He said, “Your age does not matter; God is promising that he will surely carry you. The celebration of today is not the end of the road; there is still purpose. Age does not end destiny.”
Odufuwa, while citing Psalm 91:16, prayed for the celebrant to enjoy long life, strength, wisdom, good health, prosperity and fulfilment.
Prayers were also offered for Tejuoso’s husband, the Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Dr Adedapo Tejuoso, and the Babalaje of Egbaland and former Chairman of Nestlé Nigeria, Chief Segun Osunkeye, who was honoured at the event for attaining 86.
At the grand reception held at the Marquees, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Daniel, Amosun and Adewolu separately praised Tejuoso for her character and positive impact on people.
The former governors, who attended the celebration with their wives, spoke glowingly about the celebrant, while Adewolu particularly commended her humility, generosity and affection for people.
However, for Tejuoso, the occasion was not merely a birthday celebration but also an opportunity to reconnect with friends and classmates whose relationships with her had endured for decades.
She expressed gratitude to God, her husband and her family, noting that some of her friendships had lasted between 60 and 70 years.
She said, “I love people. I love to do things for people.”
Tejuoso also recalled her upbringing in a family of successful entrepreneurs, saying her father, Pa Gabriel Adesanya Odeneye, popularly known as “Ade Millionaire,” was a successful businessman and merchant, while her mother, Beatrice Aderibigbe Odeneye, was also a successful businesswoman.
She said her upbringing influenced her decision to relate to people irrespective of their social status, adding that the principle had helped her sustain relationships with friends and classmates over the years.
“The first appreciation goes to my Heavenly Father,” she said.
A major highlight of the celebration was the reunion of old students of Mayflower School, who were classmates of the celebrant.
The classmates joined Tejuoso in celebrating the milestone, rendering the school anthem and other songs to the delight of guests.
Guests were also entertained with Ewi, the traditional Yoruba poetry and praise singing, which celebrated the life, achievements and contributions of the celebrant.
The event was also attended by former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Amb Sarafa Tunji Ishola; wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun; Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu; Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi; the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola; traditional rulers, captains of industry and other dignitaries.
The celebration also provided an opportunity for family members, friends and associates to honour Osunkeye, who was celebrated for his 86 years of life and service.
