The Emir of Yauri and Chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, has endorsed the re-election bid of Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, saying the Yauri Emirate is “indebted” to his administration for its developmental interventions.
The monarch made his position known on Friday when the Governor’s media aides, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, paid a courtesy visit to his palace in Yauri.
Dr. Zayyanu commended the governor for what he described as remarkable achievements recorded across the emirate in the three years of the administration, citing investments in education, roads, healthcare and agriculture.
According to him, the administration has constructed mega schools, rehabilitated and reconstructed healthcare facilities and provided interventions at general hospitals across the emirate.
“I still have to mention areas like agriculture, where he supported our farmers with farm inputs. He also provided free fertiliser, water-pumping machines, seeds, among other agricultural support,” the Emir said.
The traditional ruler also praised the governor for supporting security agencies, saying the intervention had contributed to an improvement in the security situation in the area and enabled farmers to return to their farmlands.
“With the coming of this administration, we are enjoying 24-hour security. The support given to security agencies in the state by the governor has reduced our security challenges in the area. Now, our farmers have gone back to their farms,” he said.
He added that improved security had boosted agricultural activities, particularly rice farming, with farmers in the emirate now able to cultivate and harvest up to three times annually.
The Emir pledged continued support for Governor Idris and expressed confidence that the administration would sustain its development programmes in Yauri Emirate and across Kebbi State.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the delegation was at the palace to seek the monarch’s royal blessing and strengthen the relationship between the traditional institution and the state government.
“We are here to seek the royal father’s blessing and to inform the general public about what Governor Nasir Idris has done for the people of Yauri Emirate and Kebbi State at large,” the commissioner said.
Ahmed said the administration remained committed to transforming Kebbi State, adding that Governor Idris had changed the development narrative through visible infrastructural and other projects across the state.
Arewa PUNCH reports that the commissioner was accompanied by the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Ibrahim A. Jombali; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmad Idris; Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki; and Special Adviser on New Media, Aliyu Bandado Argungu.
