People are using food delivery services to enhance their home movie-viewing experience by ordering movie theater snacks to their doors, according to a new report.

AMC Theatres released a report this week showing that food delivery sales from their theaters has increased nearly 50 percent year over a year, raking in multi-millions for the company.

The company said it offers most of its concession foods — including popcorn — for delivery on DoorDash, Uber Eats, and, beginning this week, Grubhub. Though the deliveries are only available in certain locations, the offerings have reportedly been well-received where available.

“It’s hard to beat having it fresh at the theatre, but we also know people want to enjoy those same foods at home, whether it’s for a movie night in, a gathering, or simply because they’re craving it,” Cassie Kennard, AMC’s manager of media relations, said in an email to Restaurant Business Online.

Surprising no one, one of the theater’s top-selling delivery items is its popcorn. The chain has capitalized on that popularity by offering the AMC “MegaBag,” which is a giant sack of fresh popcorn packaged specifically for takeout. It comes with a butter topping on the side.

The theater has also expanded its food offerings to include items like popcorn chicken, dill pickle pretzel bites, and a hot honey sausage pizza.

So far, the “elevated” snacks are available in approximately 400 of AMC’s 850 locations. Many of them are also available for delivery orders.

AMC isn’t the only theater chain making its concessions available for delivery. Cinemark, Regal, and Alamo Drafthouse also offer deliveries in certain locations.

Back in the brick and mortar theater, AMC also reported doing well on its concession sales last month thanks largely to a trio of major releases. The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Toy Story 5 were all major draws. More than 10 million people visited its theaters globally over the July 31 weekend, which is the same weekend the new Spider-Man film released.

That weekend was its best single weekend ever in terms of generated revenue and set records both for admission and food and beverage sales, according to the company.

During the first six months of 2026, AMC generated $923.4 million in food and beverage revenue, representing an 18 percent year-over-year increase, according to financial filings reviewed by Restaurant Business Online.

While there is evidence to suggest that high ticket sales at theaters typically boosts dining traffic — the classic dinner and a movie night out — the theaters’ entrance into the food delivery space also means traditional restaurants now have more competition.
