A soldier was on Wednesday allegedly assaulted by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at Zwall Guard Location in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred around 6:02 pm when troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to a report of the assault.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the soldier, Hezekiah Usoko was attempting to check a commercial driver accused of obstructing traffic while picking up passengers when NURTW members allegedly attacked him.
“The soldier sustained minor injuries during the incident,” Makama reported.

Troops, who arrived at the scene, arrested the commercial driver involved and impounded his Zectra vehicle, with registration number KTS 462-KTN.
Makama said the incident is now under investigation as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault.
