Chelsea linked with shock move for another ex-Liverpool midfielder
- Chelsea have been linked with a move for former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, after the Blues already signed Jordan Henderson earlier this summer.
- Wijnaldum, who won the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool, is now a free agent after leaving Al-Ettifaq earlier this summer, so would be able to move to Chelsea despite the transfer window closing on Tuesday.
- However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are playing down the links to Wijnaldum and are not set to pursue a move for the 35-year-old.
- The transfer rumour comes after Chelsea failed to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco on deadline day after the French club pulled out of the deal in the final minutes of the transfer window.
- Chelsea also sold Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125m, and now appear to be light of options in central midfield.
