Pete Hegseth blocking Army general promotions in massive push to overhaul Pentagon, analysis shows

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has blocked the promotions of at least six more U.S. Army officers set to become two-star generals, according to reports.
A New York Times analysis shows Hegseth has fired or halted promotions for more than 80 generals and admirals, representing roughly 10 percent of top military leadership.
The latest intervention follows earlier promotion blocks in March and August as Hegseth continues his effort to reshape the Department of Defense.
Army Secretary Dan Driscoll recently stepped down after 18 months in his role amid widely reported tensions with the Defense Secretary.
Appointed by President Donald Trump, Hegseth has publicly vowed to overhaul the Pentagon by instilling a warrior ethos and eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
