Murder charge laid after fatal fire in Middlesbrough

Murder probe after two die in Middlesbrough house fire two miles from A66 crash
  • Jaden Wright, 23, has been charged with two counts of murder following a fatal house fire in Grangetown near Middlesbrough on 26 August.
  • The blaze on Birchington Avenue killed 34-year-old Natalie McDonald and her seven-year-old niece, Valentina Foster.
  • Wright, of no fixed address, also faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and attempted section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • Four other people were injured in the fire, with two adults receiving hospital treatment and two teenagers discharged.
  • Wright was scheduled to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, while a 31-year-old man previously arrested was released without charge.
