Six workers at Ed Sheeran’s Detroit concert were rushed to the hospital after an accident involving the equipment used to tear down the stage.
Crews were tearing down the stage Saturday night after Sheeran’s final performance at Detroit Ford Field when some of the heavy equipment lost control and hit several workers inside the stadium, Click on Detroit reported.
One of the workers who was struck by the equipment told the outlet he was kept in the hospital overnight before being released Sunday.
Fire department dispatch audio revealed crews were sent to the stadium around 11 p.m. Saturday for what was described as a “forklift injury accident.”
The workers were near a ramp in a vehicle tunnel when the equipment lost control and hit several of them, just as they were walking away to go on break, according to the report.
One worker who was hit in the chest told the outlet he had never experienced a moment like that — and that the accident unfolded in a split second.
All six of the workers were taken to nearby hospitals, though none appeared to have life-threatening injuries.
At the time of the transport, two had serious injuries and four were in stable condition.
The incident injured six workers, including a member of the Ford Field team, a spokesperson for the stadium said.

“Ford Field has begun a full review and is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and with the event’s production partners,” the stadium said. “Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause. We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response.”
It was not immediately clear what piece of equipment was involved in the accident or what caused it to transpire.
Sheeran was in Detroit for one night as part of his Loop tour.
