The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified simply as Daniel, over the alleged drugging and defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Ogun State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Iniedu, the suspect allegedly gave the teenager a malt drink laced with an unknown substance, after which she reportedly became unconscious.
He was then alleged to have had unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl without her consent.

Following the incident, the victim was taken to the Olukoye Ransome-Kuti Memorial Hospital in Asero for medical examination, while police officers took the suspect into custody.
The statement quoted Iniedu as saying, “Police operatives arrested Daniel, 22 years, for allegedly drugging a 15-year-old girl with a malt drink, causing her to lose consciousness, and subsequently having unlawful carnal knowledge of her without consent.
“The suspect is in custody.”
The police spokesperson said an investigation into the case was ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran.
