The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, is dead.
According to Vanguard, the development was disclosed in a letter from the late General Secretary’s family to members of the NLC National Executive Council, NEC.
The letter was made public by NLC President, Joe Ajaero,
DAILY POST reports that Ugboaja is the fifth General Secretary of the NLC.

He was a veteran trade unionist and lawyer who was appointed NLC General Secretary in August 2019.
The late NLC scribe was born on May 15, 1966, and obtained a law degree from the University of Calabar in 1987.
According to the NLC’s historical biography, Ugboaja is the first Nigerian lawyer to work full-time for a trade union.
