Activist, Aisha Yesufu, has said that there is no better day for revolution than on election day through voting the right candidates to better the lot of Nigerians.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Yesufu said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is not the problem of Nigeria’s electoral system but the people working within it.
She said in order to prevent civil unrest, elections must be free, fair and credible and a reflection of the people’s actual will, faulting the discrepancies witnessed in the 2023 presidential election results compared to that of the National Assembly polls.
The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Campaign warned that Nigerians must force INEC to uphold democratic integrity instead of depending on its voluntary cooperation.

“There is no better day for revolution than election day. I’ve always said that INEC is not the problem. The people in INEC are the problem. So everybody should tell their members that are in INEC, police or whatever to do the right thing.
“Because on that day we will stand and be on the streets. Nobody is going to work. Nobody is traveling. Everybody will be there. So we can easily do that revolution that people call for on that day.
“So that’s how we are going to follow it. There’s nothing like you are depending on the goodness of INEC. Everybody must do the right thing,” she said.
