Dante Polvara scored in the 85th minute to give St. Louis City a 2-1 victory over the visiting Houston Dynamo on Saturday, extending their franchise-high MLS unbeaten streak to 11 games.

Polvara scored for the first time this year with a left-footed blast from the middle of the box inside the left post. The shot came after a botched clearance attempt by a Houston defender.

Simon Becher also scored as St. Louis City (9-6-6, 33 points) ended the five-game winning streak of the Dynamo.

St. Louis City improved to 8-0-3 during their unbeaten run and with Becher’s tally in the 23rd minute ending the Dynamo’s streak of 485 minutes without surrendering a goal.

Ibrahim Aliyu scored in the 75th minute for the Dynamo (12-7-2, 38 points), who also lost at St. Louis in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals in May.

Jonathan Bond had two saves for the Dynamo, while Roman Burki had three saves for St. Louis City.

Bond came up short in his attempt to record his sixth straight clean sheet, which would have matched an MLS record shared by three keepers.

After neither team generated much offense early in the game, St. Louis broke through thanks to a series of short passes from the left flank and then a deflection in the penalty box.

Becher gathered the free ball with his back to the goal before wheeling and firing a 17-yard blast from the right side of the box that was just inside the right post.

The last two St. Louis players to touch the ball, Alexandru Matan and Conrad Wallem, were credited with assists for St. Louis.

In the 66th minute, Mateusz Bogusz scored what appeared to be the equalizer, but he was called for offside after taking a deft across-the-grain pass from Jack McGlynn.

Bogusz helped Houston get the equalizer as he took a pass from Lawrence Ennali and blasted a shot from the right side of the penalty box.

Burki blocked the attempt but the ball carrommed to Aliyu who scored from point-blank range. It was the second goal this year for the reserve forward who entered in the 57th minute.
