Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the prolonged detention of African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

El-Rufai has been in detention for several months following his arrest and prosecution by the Federal Government.

The former Kaduna State governor is facing trial for alleged corruption during his time in office. He was also charged for allegedly wiretapping the telephone of National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, addressed to El-Rufai, Prince Emmanuel said if the former minister had rallied behind Kanu, the same solidarity would have been extended to him now that he is in detention.

Noting that injustice to one is injustice to all, Prince Emmanuel observed that El-Rufai’s detention mirrors the IPOB leader’s travails.

The post read, “Your Excellency,
I’m truly sorry for what you’re experiencing.

“It mirrors what Mazi Nnamdi Kanu — my brother and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra — has gone through and is still going through.

“Had we rallied behind him when he spoke truth to power, perhaps the same solidarity would be here for you today.
This is a reminder that injustice has no tribe and no religion.

“What hurts you today, hurt others yesterday. May this be the moment we decide to stand together, for all.”
