The Taraba state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abubakar Bawa, has emphasized the critical role of local government chairmen in ensuring the successful implementation of government policies at the grassroots level.
Bawa made the remark on Wednesday in Jalingo during a strategic meeting with chairmen of the 16 local government councils in the state.
The meeting, as gathered by our reporter, was aimed at strengthening party coordination and enhancing collaboration in governance across the state.
“Local government chairmen, being the third-tier of government, remain the closest administrative authorities to the people and therefore, carry significant responsibility in driving development and implementing state government programmes within their respective councils,” Bawa said.
He urged the council chairmen to actively support and promote party activities at the ward level while maintaining close cooperation with party structures across their local government areas.
Bawa also stressed the need for unity and commitment among party stakeholders to ensure effective governance and sustained political stability in the state.
Responding on behalf of the council chairmen, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, in Taraba state and Chairman of Kurmi local government Council, Moses Maihankali, commended the APC leadership for its inclusive style of governance and involvement of local government officials in decision-making processes.
Maihankali assured the party leadership of the council chairmen’s loyalty, cooperation, and full support for both the state government and the APC in advancing developmental programmes across the state.
