Arsenal are keen to make one last attempt to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1, 2026, according to El Desmarque.
They are interested in signing the Argentina international this summer to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new 2026/27 season.
The report also added that the Premier League champions will be unsuccessful in their efforts, with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone ruling out a departure in the coming weeks.
Arsenal will have to battle Barcelona, who are also interested in signing the former Manchester City attacker.
Alvarez will miss Atletico Madrid’s La Liga season opener against Malaga on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old, who joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024, wants to leave the Spanish club for a new challenge elsewhere.
