Manx Grand Prix: Rider dies in crash during qualifying

A competitor has died following a crash involving two riders during qualifying for the 2026 Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man.
The incident happened at Cruickshanks in Ramsey on the opening lap of Tuesday evening’s session.
The session was red-flagged at about 18:50 BST.
The other competitor involved suffered minor injuries and was taken to Noble’s Hospital, the island’s main hospital, for treatment.
The identities of the two riders have not been released.
The road between Ramsey Bus Station and Lheaney Road in Ramsey remained closed for more than three hours following the crash.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Manx Grand Prix organisers confirmed the death and said a multi-agency investigation was under way in accordance with the event’s standard operating procedures.
“Our thoughts are with the competitors, family and friends of those involved, who have asked for privacy at this time,” the organisers said.
Tuesday was the second day of qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT after Monday’s sessions were cancelled because of rain showers.
Sunday’s opening qualifying session was also cut short following a red-flag incident involving Italian rider Salvatore Sallustro, who was taken to hospital for treatment, before worsening weather brought an early end to the session.
Qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT is scheduled to continue daily until Saturday. Racing in the two events is due to run until 28 August on the 37.7-mile (61km) Mountain Course.
