Macaulay Culkin has signed with influential Hollywood talent agency CAA, in a move that has increased speculation he is set to return to the Home Alone franchise.

Creative Artists Agency is one of the most powerful agencies in the entertainment industry, with clients including Tom Cruise and Jennifer Lawrence.

In a post on Instagram, CAA confirmed that Culkin is a new client, noting that the 45-year-old actor is “best known for his iconic role as Kevin McCallister in John Hughes’ classic films Home Alone and Home Alone 2, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.”

The high-profile moves comes after People reported last month that Disney is working on a new installment in the film series, with Culkin expected to reprise his role.

A source told the publication that the reboot came from Culkin’s own idea, commenting: “It’s in the early stages, very early. It’s just an idea and an almost green light from Disney.”

The source added: “Disney loved Macaulay’s idea and everyone wants to see this happen.”

The Independent has contacted Disney for comment.

In November last year, Culkin openly spoke about a potential sequel idea during his “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” tour.

During an appearance in Long Beach, the actor said: “I kind of had this idea, I’m either a widower or a divorcee. I’m raising a kid and all that stuff. I’m working really hard, and I’m not really paying enough attention, and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me, and then I get locked out.”

In January, Culkin led tributes for his Home Alone co-star Catherine O’Hara, who died at the age of 71.

“Mama. I thought we had time,” Culkin wrote in a social media post. “I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say. love you. I’ll see you later.”

Home Alone has been the most-watched Christmas movie across linear and streaming in three out of the last four Decembers, according to Nielsen viewing figures.

Last year, it topped a poll naming it the U.K.’s favorite Christmas film.

Commenting on the findings, David Austin, chief executive of the British Board of Film Classification, highlighted the enduring appeal of family-friendly narratives.

He stated: “With Home Alone crowned the U.K.’s favorite Christmas film, our latest research reveals that heart-warming, family-friendly stories continue to sit at the heart of the nation’s Christmas viewing traditions. The BBFC remains committed to providing age ratings and content advice to help every household make confident viewing choices this festive season.”
